ABOUT THE CHAMBER
Employability Certificate Program
This program was developed by the Leadership East
County Class of 2003 to address the issue of employment readiness and
job retention for high school teens. This is a 10-hour program for at
risk students, covering topics such as: attitude, appearance,
attendance and accountability. Business leaders are invited to
participate by addressing these issues in the classroom.
The goal of the certificate program is to enhance job readiness for
teens, assuring that students are prepared to enter the workplace. For
the employer, this represents the opportunity to hire young people with
stronger skills, thus reducing the risk to the employer through
increased retention. The Chamber presents students who complete the
program with a certificate of employability. The
Western Association of Chamber Executives chose this program as one of
the "Best New Programs" of 2007. For more information on this program
